Progression on the Photo Manipulation assignment

Here's my Progression on the photo manipulation. It is not done yet, and still needed some adjustment to it. But here's some progression. Basically the whole concept i'm using metaphor to represent the early life of Salvador Dali.

1st image: Reincarnation

Salvador Dali born at 8:45am in 11th May 1904 in Spanish town of Figueras. The name Salvador was originally given to his brother who had died 3 years before Dali was born. He was always told that his brother reincarnated by him.

Description

Here, I use an egg representing a new life. the baby representing Salvador Dali that is inside the egg waiting to be introduce to the world.

2nd image: Spoilt

Dali had a sister name Ana Maria. Before the arrival of his sister he was thoroughly spoilt and allowed to do almost anything he pleased.

Description

Here, Salvador Dali is the bird high up on the sky representing the freedom of doing anything. The flower indicated the sister that just bloom on the ground. The flower blossom by releasing a bunch of white seeds showing that the arrival of the sister had quite an influence to the family.

3rd image: First step

His education began in a local school and then in the Academy in Figueras. Run by the Brothers of the Marist Order. To his Parents dismay, he was a poor pupil with the decision of him being an artist. In 1919 he started his own charcoal paintings and drawing exhibition in Figueras.

Description

Here the staircase representing the path Salvador Dali is heading to. Gradual increase to this new life and success. The whole charcoal effect shows the first charcoal painting exhibition Salvador Dali held in his home town Figueras.

I made some changes to this image as i felt the bottom part of the composition is kinda empty, hence i added a golden frame with a paper texture on the sign saying Salvador Dali First Exibition.

4th image: Characteristic

Dali is always consider a special kid as he always has the desire to do the exact opposite of what everyone else did assumed immense importance in his eyes and hours were spent dreaming up the most anti-social acts in order to astonish his schoolmates.

Dali enjoy torturing when he was young. He see these as art.

He pushed a boy over the bridge to the rocks some fifteen feet below, spent afternoon eating cherries on a rocking chairs as he watched the blood stained basins being brought from the bedroom.

he was given a wounded bat, he took the bat to his hiding place in wash-house. Next morning it lay, half dead, covered with frenzied ants.

He also took an inexplicable pleasure in throwing himself down steps. The pain was insignificant, the intense joy way overwhelming and he repeated the performance many times, perfectly aware of the effect it produced.

Description

Since Salvador Dali loves the feeling of pain and likes to torture. Here, i use a skull and blood to represent the evilness and pain. The red glowing eye represent the deep inside evil plan he has. and the blood represent the pain.

I am still working on all the images. There is one more left to work on. I will explain on each photo manipulation method i use for this assignment in my next post.

5th image: The Change

In 1921, Dali's mother died with breast cancer. It was the biggest shock in his life. He worship his mother a lot. His father than remarried his aunt (mother's sister). Some sources clain that Dali's resented this marriage while some claim that he didn't. Dali then moved out to stay in the school hostel and start his new life.

Description

The initial plan was having a pair of women leg on the floor representing the dead mother and a cocoon with Salvador Dali crawling out.. however it look ackward on the scene.. so i took it out.

Below is the composition with 2 legs.
